Jakob’s Webnet stainless steel mesh provides solutions with an outstanding price-performance ratio in order to make railings more attractive and safer. We will show how this works using the example of “The High Line” project in New York.
Here the concern was to transform an elevated train line on the West Side of Manhattan that had been out of service for more than 30 years into a public park. It was designed between 2006 and 2011 by a design team consisting of the landscape architects James Corner Field Operations and the architecture office Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
Elegant discretion at a reasonable cost
Jakob’s Webnet was used for the railings and railing fillings. First and foremost was its timeless design. Thanks to its filigree structure, Webnet is nearly transparent depending on the lighting and the viewing angle. Secondly came the costs and the sustainability of this solution. Due to its high resistance to environmental influences, Webnet is maintenance-free. Its components consist of high corrosion-resistant AISI 316 steel, which can also be coated in all RAL and NCS colours.
Webnet awakens design ideas
Thanks to the interplay between functionality and aesthetic restraint, it is suited for nearly every design concept. For example, you can stretch it between steel pipes, rods or cables. When stretched to its full length, it can completely replace railings in staircases.
Individual solutions with a net length of up to 100 m
We can largely pre-produce your Webnet according to your individual desires and requirements. This makes on-site installation easier and faster, for example because the net segments fit precisely. The pre-spanned steel frames delivered from the factory, which can be attached to the object very easily, are also an interesting option.
